MATCH準備-Interview questions


我把interview question 整理起來給也在準備 match 2011的人
也順便留言說一下現在你們在做什麼吧?接到IV還是rejection 沒? 我目前0 IV 0 Rejection

Beginning
-Tell me about yourself?
-How are you ?(watch for this one)
-Why are you here?

CV
-Can you explain what you have been doing since 2009-2010 (based on your CV)?
-Do you have any research experience?
-Tell me about your clinical experience in US
-Tell me about your experience in this specialty
-What might give me a better picture of you than I can get from your resume?

Clinical medicine background
-Present an interesting case that you had.
-Tell me about the patient from who you learned the most?
-What errors have you made in patient care?
-Greatest fear about practicing medicine?
-With which patients do you have trouble dealing?
-Describe the best/worst attending with whom you have ever worked?
-With what subject/rotation did you have the most difficulty?
-Which types of people do you have problems working with?

Medical education background
-When did you decide you wanted to be a physician=Why choose to be a doctor?
-How did you select the medical school?
-What were the major deficiencies in your medical school training? How would you plan to remedy this?
-Have you ever dropped a class, why?
-What was your favorite course in medical school?

Speciality
-Why are you interested in this specialty?
-What do you see as the negative and positive features of this specialty?
-What problems do you think the specialty faces?
-What are the biggest problems in medicine and in your chosen specialty?
-If your chosen specialty did not exist, what would you do?

Past experience
-What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you?
-Have you done any volunteer work?
-What is your most important lesson learned from childhood?

-If you could begin your schooling again, what would you change?
-Describe something that was very difficult in your life, how you dealt with it, and what you learned from it?

Acheivement
What is the greatest achievement you have so far
=Of which accomplishments are you most proud?
-What is the greatest sacrifice you have already made to get to where you are?
-List three accomplishments of which you are most proud of and what each accomplishment indicates about you?
-What is the most rewarding thing you have ever done?
-Are there any hidden achievements or qualities that you are secretly proud of?

Family/Friend/Personal Relationship
-Is(Are) your husband/wife/children willing to relocate with you?
-Who in your family are you closest to?
-What kinds of people are your friends?
-Describe your best friend?
-How are you similar and dissimilar to your best friend?
-people you would invite to dinner and why?
-What are your plans for a family?
-Describe important relationships you have had with people?

Personal quailty
-Why should I hire you?=What make you unique?
-What are your strengths and weaknesses? (show a true weakness and how you try to overcome)
-Are you a risk taker or safety minded?
-If you could change one thing about your personality what would it be?
-Do you see yourself as more relaxed/casual/ informal or more serious/dedicated/committed?
-What is your energy level like? 
-What’s your pet peeve?
-What three adjectives best describe you?=-If you were going to die in 5 minutes, what would you tell someone about yourself?
-What can you add to our program?
-Tell me a story about yourself that best describes you?
-Anything else you want to tell me about yourself?
-What qualities drive you crazy in colleagues?
-Are you a team player?(have to give a behaviour example)
-Tell me about your “secret identity” – The part of your personality that you don’t share with strangers=Any skeletons in your closet you want to tell me about?
-How do your friends describe you?
-What kind of qualities does a person need to be an effective physician?

Belief system
-Who are your heroes?
-Who are you, what are your ideas about life?
-How do you make important decisions?   
-What made you become who you are?
-Which is more important, knowledge or imagination?
-What do you value in your own life?
-What motivates you?
-If you could be any cell in the human body, which would you be and why?
-If you had unlimited money and (x amount of time) what would you do?
-Who is the most influential in your life?
-What do success and failure mean to you?
-Which is more important, the ability to organize, structure, and prioritize or to be flexible, modify, change and make do as needed?
-Have you always done the best work of which you are capable?

Emotion
-Are you emotional person?
-What is your greatest fear?
-What makes you happy?
-What makes you sad?
-What makes you angry?

Stress/Conflict/Failure
-Can you handle stress without the resources you are accustomed to relying on?
-How do you handle conflicts?=Do you have any conflict with your boss/co-worker?
-How well do you take criticism?
-Can you work under pressure?
-How do you deal/cope with failure, give example?
-Tell me some of your failures?

Residency Training
-Do you prefer to work under supervision or on your own?
-What do you do if someone senior tells you to do something you know is wrong?
-How will you handle the least interesting or least pleasant parts of this specialty’s practice?
-Do you know how hard residency is?
-Are you interested in academic or in clinical medicine?
-How can you do your job more effectively?
-Do you want research to be a part of your career?
-What do you expect out of your residency?
-Are you prepared for the difficulties of residency?

Future/Career plan
-Where do you see yourself in 3, 5, 10  years?
-What do you expect will be the hardest part of residency for you?
-What if you don’t match?
-Do you want to work for somebody or are
you going to start your own practice?      
-Where do you see yourself in years?   
-If could not be a physician, what career would you choose?
-Do you plan to do a fellowship?
-What would you do if the house staff had a strike?
-Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
-What do you want, where are you going. ?

Health system/Politics
-How do you see the delivery of health care evolving in the 21st century?
-Is health care a right or a privilege?
-What do you think about the health reform?
-What do you know about the US health system?
-What do you think about managed care and the role of insurance companies in healthcare delivery?
-What do you think of what’s happening in mid east? Congress? Economy?
-What do you think about the current and future state of healthcare/specialty/type of treatment, etc.?
-What differences do you see between the healthcare system in the U.S. and your country?
-What do you think of socialized medicine?
-What problems will our specialty face in the next 5-10 years?
-What is the most pressing problem in medicine today?
-What needs to be changed in our health care system?

  2. 我也有收到一封, 說他現在正在審核我的資料...那應該不是rejection, reject會說的更明白, 他可能用來防止有些人等太久不耐煩,nathan你有去ADTS看你資料都有被download了嗎? 我投100個還有19家沒download 我的資料

    2009 FM 有420位IMG
    step 1分數低於200分錄取
    按照兩位分數
    安啦 不要太挑program的話

  4. 有..我投30FM 70IM, 剛好湊100 吉霸昏
    我覺得FM 雖然成績要求不嚴格, 但是對USCE和英文能力要求很嚴格, 這兩個剛好是我的弱項,所以我把我的主力放IM
